Mass
education means education for the general public. This doesn’t mean regular
education at schools, colleges and universities. This is the education,
imparted to the illiterate people of the country so that they may at least read
letters and newspaper. They should also know how to write simple things and
keep household account. Bangladesh is a land of villages.
Eighty
percent of her people are illiterate. This hampers the uplift ment work of thecountry. So it has become necessity to educate the general people so that they
may work efficiently. All the developed countries are advanced in education.
Ninety to ninety nine percent people of those countries are literate.
But the
majority of the people of Bangladesh are
illiterate. So, they can’t take part in the development projects of the
country. As a result, no project is completely successful here. Our present
Government is aware of this. So, the removal of illiteracy from the country has
been taken up as the second step of the peaceful revolution.
